Vera (Galbreath) Combs

Vera Combs, 77, of London Mills passed away at 10:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in the Allure of Knox County Nursing Home, Galesburg, IL. She was born August 29, 1945 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Edwin L. and Margaret (Lundeen) Galbreath. She was raised and educated in Galesburg attending Galesburg High School. She married Dean Combs on July 13, 1963 in Henderson Grove, IL.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Roger Combs of London Mills, Gary Combs of London Mills and Lowell (Shirley) Combs of Trenton, IL.; grandchildren, Jason D. Combs, Christina M. (Jason E.) McSwain, Ryan L. (Lindsey) Combs, Seth M. Combs; great-grandchildren, Ayden Combs and Kyrie Combs; siblings, Janet (Gene) Nelson, Jeanne (Ray) Harris, Judy (Don) Remer, Dick (Gail) Galbreath. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister Joyce Carson, two nieces and one nephew.

Vera was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She grew up around horses and liked to ride in her younger years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the funeral home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in West Midway Cemetery, London Mills. Memorials may be made to the London Mills Fire and Ambulance Service. Wise Family Funeral Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
