Ralph L. Brashear

February 18, 1931 ~ May 12, 2020 (age 89)


Ralph L. Brashear, 89, of London Mills, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020, 8:30 a.m. at his home.  He was born Wednesday, February 18, 1931 in London Mills, IL the son of Otto and Gladys (Welch) Brashear.  He married Barbara A. Bixby on March 21, 1959, in Galva, IL.


Ralph is survived by his wife Barbara of London Mills, IL; daughter, Rhonda Bugos; granddaughters, Acacia (Dustin) Knox, Brittany (Zech) McLaren, Hannah Bugos, and Olivia Bugos; grandson, Zackary Bugos; great grandchildren, Lily, Rune and Linus Knox and Oscar, Cooper, and Campbell McLaren; one sister, Mildred (John) Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, (Doris (Harlan) Taylor), (Clara (Stuart) Cable), and (Evelyn (Jesse) Cabrera); one brother, (Bill (Joan) Brashear); and nieces and nephews.


Ralph graduated London Mills Spoon River Valley High School class of 1949.  He served in Korea with the U.S. Marine Corps. from December 4, 1951-December 1, 1953.  Ralph worked for Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg for 42 years.  He was a pitcher, playing softball for Butlers.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing and gardening.  Ralph was an avid Cub fan.  He was a member of the American Legion and the London Mills Jaycees.


Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation and there will be a private family graveside.  Memorials may be made to the London Mills United Methodist Church.  Please sign the online guestbook at  Wise family Funeral Home Avon, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
