Stanley Alva Davis, 89, of London Mills, passed away on Thursday April 25, 2019, at 6:10 a.m. in Farmington. Stanley was born Friday October 18, 1929, to Alva C. and Doris (Young) Davis in Ellisville Township. He graduated from London Mills High School in 1947. On June 1, 1949, he married Jane Shover in the London Mills United Methodist Church, formerly the Evangelical United Brethren Church of London Mills.
Stanley is survived by his wife Jane; his brother Leland, of Kansas City; 2 sons; Robert (Brenda) of Avon and Kenneth (Debbie) of Galesburg; 5 grandsons, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lester.
During his life, Stanley was many things to his neighbors. He was a proud family man; a fellow farmer; a leader in his church; a Sunday School teacher; a sports fan of the local school teams; and much more. He was all of these things to those who loved him, but most of all, Stanley Davis will be remembered as a kind and patient, mentor and friend to everyone whom he encountered.
Stanley was a lifelong member of the London Mills United Methodist Church. He farmed and raised horses in the Ellisville Township throughout the entirety of his life. His love for what he did led him to many times remark that he felt as though he never worked a day in his life.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m.on Tuesday, April 30 at the London Mills United Methodist Church with Pastor Russel Rhodes officiating. Visitation will be held Monday April 29, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. also at the United Methodist Church in London Mills. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
